Summer 2020 Program
The Summer 2020 Program is comprised of three types of sessions: Beatbox 101, Lyrics & Rhymes, and Beat Making 101. Sessions build on each other by using the same customized and thematic song with various sections designed to facilitate each session's technical goal. By the end of the week, Rap Campers will have a song they can beat box to, an original rap verse they've written, and an original beat they've produced.
Sessions are 30 minutes long to ensure that the rap campers aren't exhausted from the online session and have the energy to initiate tools and skills they've learned during the session in their day to day routine.
The live instructor for this program is Karim Rushdy. This program runs during the month of August on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays adding up to a total of 12 sessions. We have different time slots for each age group. Exact details below.

Use your mouth to make drums beats. In Beatbox 101, we’ll learn a beat of the week, rap of the week, and we will practice and share. All you’ll need is your open mind, positive attitude, and maybe a cup of water.

Use the power of writing to express yourself. Each week will have a lesson on a different technique or aspect of writing rap. On the call, there will be time to brainstorm as a group, write individually, and share back to the group! Please bring a pen and paper!

Use BandLab to organize sounds and make original beats. Each week will have a lesson on a different aspect of electronic music production. On the call, there will be time to learn a specific and achievable task, then share with the group. Be sure to bring a second device with the BandLab app installed.

If a refund is needed before the Summer 2020 Program begins, we will provide the full refund, minus a $20 processing fee. If, during the first week, a refund is required, we will provide a 50% refund. If during anytime time after the first week, no refund will be provided.
BandLab
BandLab
The Beat Making 101 will be using the BandLab app to create beats.
BandLab is the easy-to-use, all-in-one, social music creation platform that we will be using to create beats. Children can continue to explore this app outside of session time to continue to create more and more beats and music.
To download the app, click here. BandLab requires free registrations. Parents can create an account with their emails or create an account with their child’s email, if one exists.

Google Meet
Google Meet
This Program will be meeting online using the Google Meet platform.
On a desktop or laptop computer, Google Meet requires no installation and works by clicking the meeting link or by going to meet.google.com and entering the meeting code.
On iPad, tablets, and smartphones: Google Meet requires a download of their free app which is available for iPhone and Android users. To download the app, click here.
